A system can look fine on the roof while AC output is zero, partial strings are offline, or only night/idle readings appear in the app. Production loss can come from inverter shutdown, microinverter or optimizer faults, AC disconnects, breaker trips, wiring damage, animal chewing, rapid shutdown events, utility interconnection issues, or equipment that never finished commissioning.

The first job is to separate true energy loss from a monitoring/comms failure. If the inverter is online and producing but the app is stale, the repair path is different from a hard fault with no AC watts.
